About Orient: Orient Watch was formally established in July 13th, 1950 in Tokyo. However, the history of Orient Watch really dates back to 1901, when Shogoro Yoshida, the founder of Orient, opened a wholesale watch store in Ueno, Japan. Orient Watch has always focused on mechanical watches, primarily automatic watches with its own in-house automatic movements Orient was once part of the “Big Three” watch companies in Japan along with Citizen and Seiko. In the 70s, when mechanical watch companies faced hardship from the mass introduction of inexpensive quartz watches, Citizen and Seiko took the path of mass producing quartz watches, Orient stuck with what it did best, making mechanical watches. Today, Seiko owns a controlling stake in Orient. Orient, however, continues to make its own mechanical movements. For its quartz models, it uses Seiko’s quartz movements. What sets Orient apart from other watch companies is really the fact that Orient has always been focusing on making its mechanical movements better and more reliable. It is unusual today to find a watch company that makes its own movement selling watches at prices offered by Orient. Most of the watch companies that do make in-house movements are big name specialized watch companies such as Patek Philippe whose watches ranges from tens of thousands of dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. To find a specialized watch company that uses in-house movements selling its watches at prices that are affordable to most people is truly refreshing.

I went to an Authorized Dealer last weekend. They wanted ,000 plus tax and told me if I gave them 20% up front, they would have the watch in their store…in 9 days! I told them about the price on Amazon…they scoffed. I decided to purchase the watch that night and it arrived to my house only two days later. Everything was perfect. Serial number, documentation, etc…everything was brand new and perfect. I researched Amazon and their warranty for this very expensive watch…thoroughly before the purchase.

I could not be happier. The watch is way overpriced…but, hey, you know that going in. I wanted a Tag and decided it was worth the money. I wanted an upscale watch brand.

Last thought, I saw this particular model being sold on Ebay USED and it went for almost ,000. Why would anyone not buy a BRAND NEW watch from Amazon for roughly 0 more with a warranty?

Crystals fall out as time passes – StormStriker – Kansas City, MO.
I’ve had mine for about 3 yrs now and after some hard wear and tear I noticed that some of my crystals started falling out. I guess for the hard treatment I put on mine it has held up pretty decent. The crystals should stay in place regardless, but needless to say if this happens to you what do you do? Buy another one or what? Ecko should have to where you can order more silver dog face tags to replace just in case this happens to customers. The watch itself works fine and everything else is still in tip top shape. I don’t know if the jewelry cleaner loosened the crystals or what. Just watchout for the crystals falling out on the front dog tag as time passes.

This watch is the best purchase I have ever made. Unfortunately I didn’t realize that it was a woman’s watch (Come on, it looks like a man’s watch – I mean only a man could understand, let alone appreciate that look). So, now I get razzed by all my other homeless friends. I only gave it a four-star rating though because I have a disorder similar to dislexia – I can’t interperet between succesive odd-numbers. So when the minute hand is pointing at one of the dots I get very confused and it make me late for AA meetings.
